We have chosen to focus on family law, inheritance and generational changeovers. Our attorneys prepare prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, LPAs and wills. Several of our attorneys are regularly appointed by the district courts as public trustees in changes of common ownership and estates. Our process and conflict resolution expertise is helpful when disputes in family matters cannot be settled through negotiations and agreements.
For some years we have acted as the legal partner for the farmer’s associations Hordaland Bondelagand Sogn og Fjordane Bondelag. We have sound expertise and networks to help us resolve agriculture-related legal issues.
The Land Consolidation Court of Norway (Jordskifteretten) is a practical court that can both clarify ownership and make decisions that can change the law. Several of our attorneys work exclusively on assisting parties with regard to land consolidation processes.
Through three generations of working in the
expropriation law arena, we have primarily represented the landowners’ interests. Several of our present attorneys have litigated multiple expropriation cases in the Supreme Court of Norway.
Harris is also involved in property management for private landowners throughout Norway. We have managed properties for, among others, Norway’s second-largest landowner, the Norwegian Church Endowment (OVF), from 2011 to 2016. This included 8,000 lease contracts and large areas of property throughout Norway. In other contexts, we assist lessees with ground leases. We have extensive expertise in ground leases.
Our clients include:
- Testators and inheritors
- Spouses and cohabitants
